If you are currently studying or thinking about studying a NZ Diploma in Design Level 5, then you must consider if you qualify for the “No Fees” programme. From 1 July 2020 until 2023, the Government will be covering the cost of all apprenticeships for new and existing apprentices. That means there are “No Fees” for learners or employers. Q) If I am currently studying the NZ Diploma in Design Level 5 through BCITO and NKBA – do I qualify for “No Fees” for the remainder of my study?
A) Yes, there are “No Fees” up until the end of 2022. If you or your student are still training at the end of 2022, you will then move back onto the “Fees Free” programme.
Q) If I am thinking about studying the NZ Diploma in Design Level 5 next year – do I qualify for “No Fees”?
Q) Are there any prerequisites for me to qualify for “No Fees”?
A) No, the only requirement is that the programme has been approved by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).
Q) How do I claim my “No Fees”?
A) Other than signing your training agreement with a BCITO representative, there’s nothing you need to do. This is an automatic entitlement.
Q) How long will I be able to claim “No Fees”? Is it for the duration of my study?
A) There are “No Fees” up until the end of 2022. If you or your apprentice are still training at the end of 2022, you will then move back onto the “Fees Free” programme.
Q) Does my employer have to contribute anything to my qualification fees?
A) The NZ Diploma in Design involves attending two, one week, off job training courses. Depending on your location and where the course is to be held, there may be accommodation, transportation and incidental costs. These expenses are not covered under the “No Fees” funding.
