The New Zealand Diploma in Kitchen Design is a two-year, Level 5 qualification delivered by BCITO in partnership with NKBA. It equips designers with the skills to create functional, beautiful kitchens with a combination of on-job training, classroom courses, and written assignments.
The first year focuses on the technical aspects of kitchen design, including spatial planning and ergonomics, while the second year explores the aesthetic elements, such as colour theory and lighting plans.
Courses are tutored by experienced, award-winning NKBA designers.
New Zealand Diploma in Kitchen Design students receive a free NKBA Student Membership for the duration of their studies.

| Block Courses | 2 x 5-day courses (1 per year) |
| On-job Training | After each block course, students complete on-job training and workplace assessments with support from their employer and a dedicated BCITO Training Advisor. |
| Assignments | 4 (2 per year). Assignments are completed during on-job training and each one takes around 40-80 hours to complete, depending on the student’s level of industry experience and employer support. |
| Who is the course aimed at? | Designers who are currently employed in the kitchen industry and have at least 6 months experience designing kitchens using CAD software. |

Fee payments can be made in regular instalments by direct debit. Some scholarships are also available.
