The future of vocational education and training in New Zealand

The government is proposing changes to the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. The changes will affect the VET system for years to come and will have a significant impact on how kitchen/bathroom designers and joiners are trained.

The proposals relate to:
·  how vocational education and training is delivered
·  qualification development, quality assurance, and future workforce planning
·  changes to the VET funding system.

Public consultation on the proposed changes is open until 12 September. As a relatively small industry, it’s especially important that our voice is heard. NKBA plans to contribute to joint industry submissions, and we also encourage members to submit individual feedback.

Visit Waihanga Ara Rau for links to:
·   the full consultation document
·   a summary of the proposed changes
·   a webinar on the proposed changes
·   a template for making submissions.

If you have questions or would like to contribute feedback for NKBA’s submission, please email education@nkba.org.nz.
