Kitchen Design for Suppliers & Specifiers Workshop
This workshop is aimed at industry professionals who work with and supply product to kitchen designers. The workshop provides suppliers and specifiers with a better understanding the design process, how kitchen designers work and why they apply design principles, and how product supplied relates to spatial design guidelines and kitchen plans.
This workshop is delivered using a blend of tutor-led content, group discussions, and practical activities.
Workshop content includes:
Design Business Basics
- understanding designer business models. target markets, and how designers operate
Kitchen design basics
- design principles and elements
- themes and styles
- spatial planning
- colour, product, and materials
Kitchen plans
- reading and deciphering plans and elevations
- specifying products that meets the brief
- understanding design decisions and why the designer has made them

Workshop Tutor
Joneen Rodgers
Joneen is a Platinum Designer of NKBA and tutors NKBA’s 1 and 2-day design workshops.
After a period of study and work abroad in Japan, Joneen started her own business, Hello Home Interiors, which she operated for 12 years. Hello Home Interiors won the Creative Small Space Design Award at the 2023 NKBA Excellence in Design Awards.
Joneen comes from a design background and has a Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture from Victoria University. She also has a Graduate Diploma in Education and has spent many years tutoring and lecturing at the School of Architecture and Design in Wellington.
Now working for German Kitchens in Wellington, Joneen is passionate about making good design accessible to all and raising the industry standard.
