The Marble Edit is a timeless kitchen renovation designed for a busy family home where the kitchen serves as both a functional workspace and a central living area. Created primarily for a homeowner who spends much of their day at home and enjoys cooking, entertaining and gardening, the project transformed the existing kitchen while retaining its original footprint and integrating a large freestanding cooker that had already been selected.

The design embraces a classic palette of white, timber and marble, creating a refined yet welcoming aesthetic that complements the home’s existing character. A layered approach to the cabinetry introduces depth and detail, with slim shaker profiles paired with more substantial joinery elements to achieve a traditional look that feels both fresh and enduring.

A key challenge was designing within a dramatic open-plan space featuring a six-metre ceiling. Careful consideration was given to proportion, with timber detailing and strong vertical elements helping to visually anchor the kitchen within the expansive volume. Marble-inspired surfaces bring a sense of luxury and sophistication, while warm timber accents soften the palette and strengthen the connection to adjoining living spaces.

Functionality was equally important. The island was enlarged to enhance social interaction and serving space, while a butler sink created distinct preparation and cleaning zones. Integrated appliances, display shelving and layered lighting combine practicality with visual appeal.

The result is a beautifully balanced kitchen that celebrates traditional design while delivering the functionality, warmth and elegance needed for modern family living.
