Rigato Retreat transforms an everyday ensuite into a calming sanctuary, designed to support the busy routines of a modern couple while providing a luxurious sense of escape. The brief focused on creating a highly functional space that prioritised comfort, durability, and ease of maintenance, while capturing the atmosphere of a boutique spa.
Working within the existing footprint and retaining the toilet location, the design maximises every square metre through thoughtful planning and carefully considered fixture placement. A clear, uncluttered layout promotes effortless daily use, with generous circulation, integrated storage, and practical features tailored to the clients’ lifestyle.
The design is anchored by a soft, tonal palette inspired by natural materials and subtle textures. Tiles with a pleated feature finish create depth and visual interest without overwhelming the space. These layered textures are complemented by a custom American white oak vanity, a travertine benchtop, and sophisticated gunmetal fixtures, delivering a refined balance of warmth and contemporary elegance.
Functionality is seamlessly integrated throughout. Wall-mounted tapware simplifies cleaning, while the bespoke vanity incorporates clever storage solutions, including an integrated rubbish bin and sensor-activated LED lighting. Underfloor heating, heated towel rails, and layered lighting enhance comfort and ambience, allowing the space to adapt effortlessly from practical morning routines to relaxing evening rituals.
