Oak & Arc is a thoughtfully designed new-build kitchen created for a professional couple embarking on a new chapter of life on a property they have called home for more than 25 years. Designed to support everyday living for two while accommodating visits from adult children and guests, the kitchen balances practicality, warmth and refined architectural detailing.

The brief called for a calm, contemporary space that reflected the natural materials used throughout the home, particularly the cedar cladding featured externally. Storage and functionality were prioritised, with clean-lined cabinetry replacing any need for open display shelving, ensuring the kitchen remained organised and uncluttered.

American white oak veneer forms the foundation of the design, bringing warmth and a natural connection to the wider architecture. A sculptural curved island became the centrepiece of the space, softened with solid oak slats that introduce texture, rhythm and a welcoming sense of movement. The curved form creates a seamless transition between the kitchen, dining and living areas, enhancing the home’s open-plan flow.

Caesarstone Georgian Bluffs was selected for both the benchtops and splashback, providing subtle movement and a sophisticated grey tone that complements the warmth of the timber. Copper-toned fittings add depth and refinement, while carefully considered grain direction within the cabinetry introduces visual interest without unnecessary complexity.

The result is a modern and highly functional kitchen that combines warmth, texture and understated elegance, creating a timeless space perfectly connected to both the home and its rural setting.
