Lumière Noir is a sophisticated bespoke kitchen project defined by precision craftsmanship, refined detailing and a seamless integration of architecture and joinery. Designed as a highly customised space, the project required the successful execution of numerous complex junctions and connections, demanding meticulous planning, specialist manufacturing techniques and exceptional attention to detail throughout every stage of production.
Although part of a new-build home, the project presented several key constraints that shaped the design and manufacturing process. Existing plumbing and water feed locations were fixed and could not be altered, requiring accurate site measurements and careful coordination to ensure the cabinetry was designed around these immovable services. The project also required strict budget management, while restricted site access on a narrow residential street necessitated detailed planning and close collaboration with neighbouring properties, contractors and trades.
A significant aspect of the process was the development of a bespoke timber stain, created using timber from the project itself to achieve an authentic and consistent finish aligned with the design vision. Likewise, the custom brass-effect finish applied to the rangehood required extensive sampling and approval before production commenced.
Early communication with the site management team was critical to the project’s success, allowing manufacturing timelines, installation sequencing and trade coordination to align seamlessly with the wider construction programme. The result is a highly resolved kitchen that demonstrates technical excellence, thoughtful planning and the quality that can be achieved through close collaboration between designer, manufacturer and builder.
