Inspired by the soft beauty of the clients’ wedding day, Fifty Shades transforms a once dark and disconnected kitchen into a light-filled, coastal-inspired hub designed for modern living and entertaining. The brief called for a timeless kitchen that reflected muted ocean tones, warm sandy hues and a calm, uncluttered aesthetic, while maximising functionality within a compact footprint.

A key part of the transformation involved removing a structural wall and fireplace, opening the kitchen to the surrounding living spaces and dramatically improving natural light and flow. At the heart of the design is a generous island that provides seating for five, creating a welcoming social space for family and friends while enhancing preparation and serving areas.

A sophisticated palette of warm greys, soft textured materials and custom shaker-style cabinetry evokes the serenity of the coastline. Quartzite benchtops and splashbacks feature naturally flowing veining reminiscent of sea foam, while timber accents and refinished wooden flooring introduce warmth and balance. To maintain a clean and seamless aesthetic, appliances are fully integrated or carefully concealed, including a hidden dishwasher, integrated refrigerator and dedicated pantry housing small appliances and food storage.

Every centimetre of space was thoughtfully utilised, with custom storage solutions discreetly accommodating household essentials, cleaning equipment and technology. A dedicated bar area extends the home’s entertaining capabilities while offering additional storage.

The result is a refined and highly functional kitchen that feels spacious, timeless and connected to the rhythm of coastal living, transforming what was once an overlooked corner into the true heart of the home.
