Created for clients who enjoy entertaining as much as relaxing at home, this project transformed a fireplace and television wall into a sophisticated architectural feature that anchors the open-plan living pavilion. The brief was to deliver all the functionality of a media room without allowing technology to dominate the space, ensuring uninterrupted connections to the surrounding landscape and preserving the calm, contemporary character of the home.

Positioned at one end of the expansive living, dining and kitchen pavilion, the design responds directly to the home’s architectural language through a carefully curated palette of natural materials and refined detailing. At its centre is an elongated Escea gas fireplace set within a seamless stone surround, creating a dramatic focal point while maintaining a restrained and elegant presence. Timber-lined display niches introduce warmth and texture, providing balance and visual interest without overwhelming the space.

A significant design challenge involved concealing the many practical elements required for modern living, including media equipment, heating systems, ventilation and maintenance access. Cleverly integrated joinery solutions allow these functions to remain hidden while ensuring they remain easily accessible. A Samsung Art TV was selected to minimise visual impact, appearing as artwork when not in use and blending effortlessly into the overall composition.

Natural stone, blond oak veneer, exposed aggregate concrete flooring and warm cedar ceilings create continuity throughout the pavilion, reinforcing the connection between architecture and landscape. The result is a refined living environment where craftsmanship, comfort and entertaining take centre stage, delivering a beautiful balance between technology, functionality and timeless design.
