Creating a dramatic yet highly functional family kitchen, Eclipse was designed as a contemporary entertainer’s space where bold aesthetics and everyday practicality coexist seamlessly. The brief centred on a striking black kitchen, complemented by a hidden scullery to house food preparation, storage and clean-up activities, allowing the main kitchen to remain refined and uncluttered.

The design is anchored by a dramatic black ceiling and strategically positioned skylights, which draw natural light deep into the interior and prevent the dark palette from feeling overwhelming. A carefully considered mix of materials enhances both durability and visual impact, including fingerprint-resistant cabinetry, sintered stone benchtops and warm timber elements that soften the overall composition. Layered lighting further contributes to the balance between sophistication and comfort.

A strong architectural framework guided the design, with the central scullery opening acting as the organising element around which the entire kitchen was carefully aligned. This emphasis on symmetry and proportion creates a cohesive visual flow throughout the space. Precision craftsmanship is evident in the finely detailed island, seamless timber integration and custom battened sliding doors within the scullery.

Despite the compact footprint of the supporting spaces, storage was maximised through highly considered joinery solutions that wrap continuously from overhead cabinetry into surrounding wall elements. The result is a beautifully resolved kitchen that combines bold design, exceptional functionality and meticulous execution.
