Curved Intent is a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen that combines warmth, functionality, and refined craftsmanship. Designed as the heart of a busy family home, the project focused on creating a highly practical space while maintaining clean sightlines, seamless integration, and furniture-inspired detailing throughout. Although budget constraints limited the use of solid timber and veneers, carefully selected materials were used to achieve the desired natural aesthetic without compromising the overall design vision.
A central skylight positioned along the pitched ceiling established the primary axis for the kitchen, with the cabinetry carefully designed to create a sense of symmetry and balance radiating from this focal point. Integrated appliances were incorporated throughout, ensuring they remained both discreet and easy to use, while durable surfaces were selected to withstand the demands of everyday family life.
The project required an exceptional level of precision during manufacturing and installation. Tight tolerances around integrated appliances, extensive grain matching across cabinetry components, and the elimination of visible fillers and scribes were all essential to achieving the desired furniture-like appearance. A 12mm porcelain benchtop required specialised cabinetry construction, while coordination with multiple trades ensured the successful integration of custom arches, microcement finishes, flooring details, and inward-opening doors.
The result is a beautifully crafted kitchen that delivers understated sophistication, meticulous detailing, and enduring functionality, embodying the Scandinavian principles of simplicity, balance, and purposeful design.
