Concrete Casa is a contemporary family kitchen designed for a new-build home where entertaining, functionality and architectural expression were equally important. Created for a family with two pre-teen children, the kitchen forms the centre of daily life while reflecting the owners’ strong connection to the concrete industry through the use of exposed concrete walls, expansive glazing and clean modern lines.

The design was developed alongside the architectural planning process, allowing key elements of the home to be refined to better support the kitchen. A large picture window and striking concrete feature wall became focal points within the space, with careful adjustments to the window design enhancing both functionality and visual impact. The kitchen, bar and scullery were designed as a cohesive suite of spaces, connected through a palette of textured materials and contemporary finishes that complement the surrounding architecture.

A central island provides generous preparation space while creating a strong visual anchor. Angled detailing to the island subtly directs attention towards the feature wall and landscape beyond. Stainless steel benchtops were selected for their practicality and durability, particularly suited to the clients’ passion for preserving and bottling produce, while porcelain surfaces offer heat resistance and visual continuity with the concrete walls.

Thoughtful storage solutions were integrated throughout, including a dedicated docking station for the family’s robot vacuum, concealed appliance storage and extensive shelving for preserves. The result is a highly functional and visually striking kitchen that balances architectural drama with the practical demands of family life and entertaining.
