Calm and Curated is a bathroom renovation designed to transform an ordinary family bathroom into a peaceful sanctuary that balances luxury, functionality and enduring style. Created for a professional couple and their young family in what they consider their forever home, the project sought to move away from a dated aesthetic and create a space that felt warm, restorative and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
The design was inspired by the green outlook beyond the home, with a natural palette of soft stone, warm timber and subtle textures establishing a calming atmosphere. Every element was carefully considered to create a bathroom that feels curated yet effortless, with finishes selected for both their beauty and long-term durability.
Working within existing plumbing locations to meet budget requirements, the layout was refined to improve flow and usability while maintaining a straightforward and highly functional arrangement. Large-format tiles were chosen to minimise visual clutter and provide easy maintenance, while a freestanding bath creates a sculptural focal point and reinforces the sense of retreat. A fluted glass shower screen introduces texture and gently diffuses light, adding depth without overwhelming the space.
Custom joinery conceals storage and power points, ensuring daily essentials remain organised and out of sight. Layered lighting replaces the harshness of the original room, creating a warm and inviting ambience throughout the day and evening.
The result is a timeless and highly functional bathroom that combines understated luxury with practical family living, creating a calm retreat designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
