This project transformed Bosch’s eight-year-old training facility at Unserhaus in Auckland into a dynamic, public-facing Experience Centre designed to showcase the brand’s innovation across cooking, dishwashing, laundry and refrigeration. The brief required a space that could inspire architects, designers, developers, retail partners and consumers alike, while accommodating live demonstrations, consultations, industry events and educational programmes. A significant challenge was incorporating 76 Bosch appliances within an existing floorplan constrained by a large angled hallway and multiple segregated spaces.

Having originally designed the training facility eight years earlier, Damian Hannah from German Kitchens brought a detailed understanding of the building and its limitations. One of the first design moves was to visually and physically connect the centre to the main foyer by introducing a new set of internal glazed doors, making the space more welcoming and accessible. To increase the showroom footprint, Damian reconfigured underutilised circulation areas, removed internal walls, redesigned the fire exit arrangement and incorporated additional storage. These changes expanded the usable showroom area by approximately one-third and created a more open, intuitive visitor experience.

The redesigned layout incorporates dedicated zones for cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing and laundry, while also making room for a Bosch project kitchen. Working within Bosch’s strict international corporate identity guidelines, the material palette carefully balanced white, timber, black and accent colours through the use of texture, lighting and contemporary finishes. The result is a sophisticated and engaging environment that showcases Bosch technology while providing a lasting source of inspiration for industry professionals and homeowners alike.
